A Little History Lone Star Classic
celebrities have included good friends and stars of the NFL, MLB, NBA, movie and
TV stars, comedians, and sports icons like Darrell Royal. In 1986, Doug hosted
his first Comedy Show as part of the Awards Banquet, profiling good friend Tim
Allen from Detroit. Tim set the standard for all future Comedy Shows, providing
talent for at least four Lone Star Classic shows. Other prominent headliners include
Rich Little, Robert Wuhl, Dave Coulier, Bill Engvall, and Jackie Flynn. Soon,
Mark Ridley, owner of the Comedy Castle in Detroit, started “booking” all our
comedians, and has been ever since. Lone Star Classic celebrities help
raise the profile of our events, donate their time, talents, and often items for
our auctions. Our celebrities are faithful supporters of our cause to cure paralysis!
